MEET YOUR COACHES

Brendan McCartney

With over 22 years’ experience as an AFL coach, Brendan has achieved success across a variety of roles.
 
Having coached from the grassroots to AFL clubs; Richmond, Geelong, Essendon, Western Bulldogs and
Melbourne, Macca prides himself on teaching and developing players in all aspects of the game.
 
His passion and enthusiasm for coaching is evident as Brendan has returned to community football, coaching North Ballarat FNC for season 2021.
 
Currently Head Coach of the Specialist Football Program at Western Heights College, Brendan harnesses his experience as a secondary school teacher to develop the physical and life skills of all his players.

Susie Robinson

Susie has worn many professional hats, but the consistent theme across all her roles is her passion for football.
 
She is currently coordinator and coach with the Specialist Football Program at Western Heights College and junior girl’s coach at The
Geelong College.
 
Undertaking study in High Performance Sport Leadership in addition to extensive experience in media production in sport, including radio and TV.
 
As an executive coach and specialist in governance and management, Susie works collaboratively to develop coaches and clubs.

Will Sexton

From pathway programs at the Geelong Falcons and Victoria Country, to senior level experience in the VFL with the Geelong Cats, Will has formed some great football knowledge despite his young age.

Paired with his knowledge of strength & conditioning, he is poised with a unique skillset of understanding what it takes to perform at a high level both physically and mentally.
 
He now looks to use his experiences and knowledge to provide aspiring young footballers with the tools to achieve their dreams.

Matthew Scarlett

Matthew retired as an AFL player in 2012 following 284 games for Geelong, including 3 premierships.

Arguably one of the best players to the play the game Scarlo is well respected for his fierce competitiveness, ability to create attack for his team through brilliant defensive efforts and care for the team.

Matthew reunited with Macca at the Western Bulldogs as a development coach, returning to Geelong from 2016-2021 as an assistant coach.
